UPM - Clear Cutting

We visited a forest farm owned by the forest company UPM in southern Finland. During the visit, the official responsible for felling the forests owned by UPM and the official responsible for felling private forest owners presented to our group about forest management. We were comprehensively introduced to the planning and practical implementation of fellings. A John Deere harvester was also present at the logging site. We were comprehensively introduced to how the harvester does all the steps at once. Felling the tree, pruning the branches and sawing the tree to the desired size. At the end of the process, the sawn trees are in a pile waiting for the harvesting machine.

It was great that an international forestry company was interested in teaching our group about forest management. It was very positive that they showed us how forestry is actually done. Today, many companies only focus on telling how important all green values are to them.
